INSOLES AND ORTHOTICS

Insoles and Orthotics

insoles and orthotics

Prefabricated insoles can be purchased over the counter at any shoe store or chemist. These type of insoles come in different shapes, sizes, styles and materials, with different arch support.

It is worth noting that arch supports purchased off the shelf are not tailor made to you, they are a generic or “one size fits all” device that may not be adequate for your needs. They are designed to accommodate different footwear and different foot pathologies. Prefabricated orthotics can be modified or improved by a podiatrist and last between 6 months to 2 years.

Semi-custom orthotics are one step up from prefabricated orthotics and are more similar to custom orthotics.

Semi-custom orthotics are designed and manufactured at the same state of the art laboratory in Melbourne, Victoria, using the same techniques and materials as custom, but are designed without a cast or impression. Instead, a tracing of your foot is used, so this reduces the cost involved in the process as the device is much more generic than a custom device.

Custom orthotics are orthopaedic devices designed to treat or adjust various structural and functional biomechanical disorders that affect the lower limb.

They are an innersole device that are manufactured on a per client basis, depending on your specific needs. Custom Orthotics are the highest level of orthotics available and will usually achieve the best results. Custom orthotics can last up to 4 years.

To ensure you are fitted with the best possible device please seek the expertise from one of our Podiatrists at Undefeeted Podiatry who can assess and recommend the right option for you in our studio.
